Email marketing, like postal mail marketing, is about grabbing your potential customer's attention in the few moments before they click the bin icon.

A good html email will have:
- a striking image (check out iStockphoto)
- a snappy headline
- enough body copy to tantalise the reader
- a call to action that is irresistible: Find out more, Buy now, Get the details
- legal notes that qualify any claims you make in the main copy or provide details, Ts and Cs for special offers
- Privacy statement and unsubscribe and/or subscribe options
Keep it short. Keep it snappy.
