Hey all. This time round my design hour will be all about booze! Something I am sure you will enjoy and tickle all your taste buds!

Oh Beer! - This concise site promotes a clever app designed to help you choose the right beer! I love the sweet and simple animations and great little piece of interactivity at the top of the page, where users can rearrange / score the pints of beer.

Premium Draft - This one page website has a suave design and again has some subtle animations as the user scrolls through the content. I love the colour scheme and typography of this along with the full width and bold layout they have chosen. Works well responsively too.

Estrella Creek - I really love the images used on this wine website. The banner has the added interest of parallax scrolling, which gradually reveals the full and tempting glass of wine as the users pans down the page.  The site throughout implements large scale images which really highlight their product.

Cirq - This vineyard website has a real retro design to it and reminds me of a wild west era. They really experiment with various different typefaces in this which really gives that aged look. The slideshow in this site is a little different to many, in that it uses video footage instead of still images. There are some nice design features here, especially on the “hover” states.

Finlandia - A great website for this vodka brand that incorporates animations and video clips that are controlled when the user scrolls through the site. The photography/ cinematography really lends itself well to the product being sold and creates quite a “chilling” atmosphere to the campaign.

Luksusowa Vodka - This site has a clever and comical way of promoting its product. This rather lengthy website goes through a step-by-step guide of “how to be a man” for those who feel they are need of some “manly” advice.

Not only am I a fan of a beer or two, being a design geek, I’m often sold on the packaging it comes in too. Here are just a few examples of some beautifully designed bottled beers. There are some lovely touches of sweet typography and illustrations.

Another little piece of design which gets overlooked when a bit of booze is around, is the humble beer mat. Although many believe its sole purpose is to soak up those overspiled suds, they often carry clever bits of advice along with some well thought out and pretty graphic design.

And on a final note...

A nice little quote from the American author of the Great Gatsby novel.

That's all for this round of my design hour. I hope I have whetted your design appetites. Until next time, please drink responsibly!
