Oh, how I love Google!

Let me explain. I feel like my life without it would not be the same. Anytime I need help, Google has got my back. Is it the same for you?

Google and me go way back and I have to say our relationship has blossomed. I know most of you will agree the feeling is mutual.

For me, Google is always my 'go-to' for research and to learn about new topics, which helps me expand my knowledge – which is great for my university assignments! I trust Google, as know that I can get high quality material and find exactly what I'm looking for. I'm a Web Designer for EMC: when I need a design idea to inspire me, I Google it.

I have even learned how to create my quick and easy 'Home made Nando's Chicken' to impress my friends, thanks to Google. Even when I was curious to know what "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" meant, I simply Googled it! You can even find out how many calories are in the human body. I know, crazy right! I could tell you the answer but I dare you to Google it.

Let me just quickly wind back and tell you how it all began.

Once upon a time in the year 1995, Larry Page, who was 22 at the time, and Sergey Brin, 21, met at Stanford. Larry was a University of Michigan grad, who was considering the school and Sergey was asked to show him around. Then in 1996 Larry and Sergey's adventures begin when they collaborated on a search engine called BackRub. BackRub functioned on Stanford's servers for more than a year, which led to it taking up an excessive amount of bandwidth. Then in 1997 on September 15th was registered as a domain. Larry and Sergey were playing on the word "googol," a mathematical term for the number represented by a 1 followed by 100 zeros - this was a symbolisation of their mission to shape a "seemingly infinite amount of information on the web". And so it continued to grow rapidly.

'EBiz' states that Google is most likely to be the most popular search engine in 2015, expecting a whopping 1,100 million estimated unique monthly visitors. In second place, according to EBiz, comes Bing, with an estimated 300 million unique monthly visitors. So I know I'm not the only one hooked on Google!

Larry describes it as "the perfect search engine", and that it should "understand exactly what you mean and give you back exactly what you want." I wish I could meet Larry and Sergey, co- founders of Google, one day and give each a handshake (ok maybe a group hug too) as I admire both of their achievements; with them, Google has grown massively and done what they anticipated it would do, and more. From Google Chrome to Google Calendar, to help us plan our goals, to Google Maps, directing us to our destination, information has been made amazingly accessible by Larry and Sergey in the 20 years since they met.

All in all, you see why I love Google – do you agree?
