Website Support Developer

Key Responsibilities Of The Position:

  • Provide reactive and proactive support for client websites with support contracts
  • To investigate, understand and propose solutions to client reported issues
  • To provide accurate estimates for completion of assigned development activities and to alert the Project Coordinator /Project Support in good time to any slippages
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving for issues with client websites and hosting
  • Carrying out development work and updates to functionality on custom site templates and themes in line with budget and brief, test to QA criteria
  • Develop, maintain, and update bespoke functionality for WordPress websites
  • React promptly to website bugs, additional feature requests, server and security issues
  • Implement and advise on recommendations based on SEO reports
  • To identify opportunities to resolve commonly encountered client queries, and issues with the development of internal tools and utilities that would reduce, simplify or speed up resolution.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Receive initial brief from designer to establish design and technical parameters for working structure
  • Liaison with clients, designers, and search engine marketing team, coordinate projects through from development of websites to go-live
  • Hosting and domain name validation, pre-live QA, uploading of site, go-live and post-live QA
  • Remain current with new technologies to ensure business stays ahead
  • On-going research to improve efficiency and quality of projects and ongoing support
  • Improve web development processes, strategies and QA procedures

Essential:

  • IT or web related degree or equivalent previous web developer experience

  • Any further web development training
  • Building/managing personal websites

  • User experience quality assurance

Desirable:

  • Experience working in a similar support/development role
  • An understanding of deployment process using Git
    using CLI
  • Commercial or agency experience
  • Building HTML emails using best practices
  • Agile project way of working

Product Knowledge

Essential:

  • HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery and PHP
  • CMS and eCommerce systems
  • An excellent working knowledge of WordPress

Desirable:

  • CVS and XML integration knowledge
  • SEO knowledge
  • Photoshop
  • Browser/device compatibility
  • Magento and Joomla! CMS knowledge
