ExtraMile's 'mature' (in age only) Technical Director

I look after technical decisions and strategies within the company. This means ensuring that we are consistent in what we do with our web technologies and developing products and services that fulfil our clients' needs. It also means I pick up all the techie headaches when the unexpected happens - which it usually does just at the wrong moment.

I bring many years experience in technology to the company, having worked in software and hardware development, marketing and sales. I now manage the sales process and try to balance what I know with what I don't know - gaps that are filled by other members in the team, thankfully. I also like to think that I can present our products and services well, in a way that gets our message over - I like to think it, but whether I achieve it or not is another matter.

I'm expecting ExtraMile to grow significantly in the next few years - we have everything we need: great staff, excellent products, a commitment to service and ISO 9001. When that all happens, I'll be able to relax a bit - because everyone else will be doing the work!

I'm a keen walker, have just taken up cycling again after 20 years without getting on a bike. I like food, Peroni and wine. I'm a lover of music with an eclectic ear (only one) and of street dance (watching, not performing) and musical theatre. I like to be around people who are as excited about life as I am. I get very frustrated with people who grumble about their lives, partners and jobs - just do something about it!

Before I die, I'd like to write a novel: however, there are a few things getting in the way of that - no time, no plot and no ability to write convincing dialogue.

My perfect day off would consist of a leisurely breakfast with someone nice, maybe a gentle cycle ride topped off with lunch at The Star Inn at Copmere, an afternoon sitting in the sun reading the next Peter James, followed by a bottle of pop around 6pm and a good film. Then off to bed - perhaps that someone nice is still around? Perfect.
