ExtraMile Communications' super creative Web & Graphic Designer

I’m the newbie to the ExtraMile family. Having not been here long, expectations of me are high, and ever expanding! I’m the Web / Graphic Designer here. I offer creativity and a pixel perfect eye, but also have a keen passion for design and bring that along when creating bespoke websites. I like to see brands evolve, and for them to be applied consistently. In most cases with us, it’s the key visual element of the website. I aim to become an integral part of the design team here, hopefully working up to being a Creative Director, because it would mean having management responsibility and design at the same time.

I have a BA (Hons) Degree in Graphic Communication. This really focussed on the way users perceive ideas and how to get bold messages across from taking just one look, whether it be an interface, or a carefully designed logo. It's really interesting how people visualise certain graphical elements, and the amount of these they encounter in every day life. I’m a laid back individual, I don’t take offence to anything. I’ll joke about anything and everything - be warned. On the other hand, I’m kind and compassionate, conscientious enough to please everybody else before pleasing myself - that’s what makes me a great asset here.

I rarely get an evening off to myself. You’ll often find me playing badminton, at the gym, rehearsing or gigging with a band, or just generally going out with friends and family. I’m bored if I’m not busy. I like my music, whether it be playing one of my many instruments, or listening to it. I also love art and design and anything Apple. I’m never without a bottle of Vimto cordial either. Milkshakes are also yummy. I’ll eat virtually anything. Except doughnuts. These are my one true hate. I’m also not that keen on chocolate ice cream or chocolate yoghurts.

I’ve always wanted to skydive. Sure, I’d be extremely nervous, on and off the ground, but I think it would be a great experience and one of my lifetime ambitions.

On a perfect day off, I would probably be chilling in Birmingham somewhere, either at the German Market around Christmas time or in one of the bars around Brindley Place, because I love the area and the vibe (and the impact it has on my wallet). I’d probably have a lovely game of badminton too!
