Ean Faragher
ExtraMile's 'awkwardly named' Online Editor & Web Developer
I build websites, manage most of our web projects, dabble in design (although Matt generally gives a sardonic smile at my creations and then does something 1000 times better), write copy and generally do anything I’m asked. I bring a penchant for brightly coloured shirts to the business. I also have extensive knowledge of web technologies and a strong background in the role of media on the web. I believe ExtraMile will expand significantly in the next few years and I hope to be part of that growth.
I was born and raised in the Isle of Man and went to Keele University in 2004 to study a Dual Honours BA in Media, Communications and Culture and Marketing (the longest degree name known to man). I then completed an MRes in Media, Communications and Culture. Towards the end of my Masters degree I applied for a job at ExtraMile Communications and here I am, 3 years on. My aim is to convince Nick and Gabrielle that ExtraMile should move over to the Isle of Man but apparently tax breaks aren’t enough. I’ve recently taken up running in the early morning, although it is difficult when my bed is so warm and outside is so cold. I also enjoy reading, generally crime fiction although I do try to be a bit ‘worthy’ every so often and read a classic. I love cooking although I'm not so keen on the cleaning up part. And it won’t surprise you that I enjoy tinkering with computers, last count was 5 in the house (along with the obligatory box of cables) with only 2 being fully functional.
I like food and beer. Hence taking up running. I have a strong dislike for bananas, mainly because I used to work in a grocery shop and bananas, when confined in small spaces like a packing box, smell disgusting. There was also the tendency for lots of spiders to escape from said banana boxes, I was never entirely convinced that they weren't tropical. I also dislike mayonnaise - finding a pre-packed sandwich without mayonnaise is almost impossible, it is a good excuse to have a sausage roll though (pastry filled with indeterminate meat, but at least there's no mayo!).
Before I die I would like to ride a bike in the Manx Grand Prix - this would involve:
1) learning how to ride a motorbike
2) getting my girlfriend to agree
3) not being absolutely terrified
4) not killing myself in the process
My perfect day off would mean getting the earliest flight back home to see my family and friends but most importantly to get a pint of Bushy's and a big bowl of queenies in creamy garlic sauce.
